Hybrid within a genus of five species of poisonous, evergreen shrubs and trees, native to South America, particularly the Andes. Previously included in Datura, which is now restricted to annual species with upright flowers. While not native to Mexico, it is commonly grown there and in Australia and New Zealand, as well.
