One of about 60 species of coniferous trees widely dispersed over the Northern Hemisphere. This species' distribution is centered in the Edwards Plateau of Central Texas. Commonly found in rocky or poor soils along with oaks. Shown here is the male plant in bloom, noted for producing troublesome allergenic pollen in the winter.
