Opuntia leptocaulis CACTACEAE Tasajillo, Desert Christmas Cholla, Pencil Cholla Upright, bushy cactus 2-5 ft. tall. One of about 200 species in the genus, native to desert flats in heavier soil, from Texas and Oklahoma west through Arizona and northern Mexico, between 1,000 and 5,000 ft. elevation.
